Located in the centre of the Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, the museum was opened to visitors in 1988 and consists of archaeological and ethnographic sections. A documentary film about Hacıbektaş and its region is shown at the entrance to inform visitors. The first two sections after the entrance are devoted to archaeological works. In these sections, the artefacts belonging to the Suluca-Karahöyük mound are mainly exhibited. The site is located within the boundaries of the Hacıbektaş district and was an important settlement that was continuously inhabited from the Old Bronze Age to the Roman period. Ethnographic artefacts, carpets and rugs from the Ottoman period, stone-cutting culture, copper pots and pans, women's and men's clothing and accessories are displayed in the ethnographic artefacts hall with the help of advertising boards.
