The historic building in Konya was constructed in 1912 and served as a governor's building for a period of time. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed in this house upon his arrival to Konya. In 1927, the municipality of Konya purchased the house and registered it in Ataturk's name in 1928 as an expression of Konya's gratitude to Atatürk. The deed records it as 'A gift of inhabitants of Konya to the President Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha.' The Museum of Ataturk House opened in 1982 after the building was restored. The museum provides information on Konya and its people's role in the War of Independence through documents and photographs. The ground floor exhibits documents and photographs from before the Republic, detailing Atatürk's visits to Konya. Various documents, photographs and newspaper clippings showing Atatürk's visits to Konya, his visits inside the city, the daily notes he kept in this house are exhibited on the panels. Some of Atatürk's clothes and various items he used in this house are exhibited in the showcases.
