The Tarsus Museum was first opened in 1971 in the Kubat Pasha Madrasah. It was moved to the 75th Year Cultural Centre Complex in 2000, and in the last month of 2020, it was put into operation in its new building, known as the Old Courthouse Building. The museum building has two floors and consists of archaeological and ethnographic sections. The archaeological section displays artefacts from the Chalcolithic, Bronze and Iron Age, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, which have been brought to the museum through purchases and archaeological excavations in the region of Tarsus. In the Ethnography Hall, artefacts from Tarsus and its region, which are an important part of Çukurova culture, are exhibited. The social, religious and philosophical beliefs of the people living in Tarsus and its region are reflected in the metalworking, weaving and other objects of daily use.
