Description

The Hagia Sophia is a historical architectural wonder that still stands today. It is renowned for its grand architecture, size, and functionality. The Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum, located in the Defter-i Hakani Nezareti building (The General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre), exhibits 1700 years of history about the Hagia Sophia. The museum offers an extensive audio-visual experience on its top two floors, showcasing the Roman Empire Period on the third floor and the Ottoman Period on the second floor. The first floor exhibition displays artifacts, many of which are being exhibited for the first time, arranged in four sections: the Cathedral, the Mosque, the Museum, and the Mosque again. The cistern of the Eastern Roman period can be seen from the frameless windows on the ground floor of the building. The Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum provides a distinctive opportunity for those seeking to explore the rich history of Hagia Sophia from a comprehensive perspective.
