Description

The museum building was constructed in 1411 by Yakup II, the last ruler of Germiyan, as part of a social complex. Restored in 1999, it now operates as the Tile Museum. Yakup II's tiled sarcophagus is in the building's tomb section. The foundation inscription of the madrasa, which is now located in the south niche of the entrance door, is an important historical source consisting of thirty-nine lines. The locals refer to the building as 'Gökşadırvan' due to its solid marble fountain. The museum showcases tile architectural elements, inscriptions, vases, plates, panels, and household utensils made of tiles produced in Kütahya and Iznik from the 14th century to the present day in chronological order.
