The Karaman Museum is situated behind the Hatuniye Madrasah, one of the most beautiful works of the Karamanoğlu Principality. The museum's activities began in 1961, and the current building was opened in 1980. The exhibition hall is divided into two sections. The archaeological section displays artefacts from various civilizations, ranging from the Epipaleolithic Age to the Eastern Roman Period. This section features prominent works from Canhasan Mounds, an important centre of the Chalcolithic Period in Anatolia, and from Philadelpia Ancient City (Gökçeseki), one of the rare medical centres of Central Anatolia. The ethnographic section showcases artefacts from the Seljuk Anatolian Principalities, Ottoman and Republican Periods. The museum garden contains grave steles primarily from the Roman period, as well as artefacts from the Eastern Roman and Turkish-Islamic periods.
