Description

The Troy Museum is situated at the entrance of the Troy Ancient City in Tevfikiye village of Çanakkale. It spans an area of 11,200 square meters and boasts a 3,000 square meter exhibition hall. Construction of the museum began in 2013 and, after a period of delay in 2015, it was completed in October 2018. The museum tour begins with the descending ramp. The niches on the walls of the ramp describe the different layers of Troy through tombstones, sculptures, scene re-enactments, and photographs. The museum's circulation diagram at the entrance explains the science of archaeology, archaeological and archaeometric dating methods, and concepts such as Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, mound, restoration and conservation through diagrams, drawings, texts and interactive methods. The exhibition comprises a variety of artefacts, including stone sculptures, sarcophagi, inscriptions, altars, milestones, Paleolithic axes and cutters, ceramics, metal pots, gold, weapons, coins, bone objects and tools, glass bracelets, ornaments, glasses, perfume bottles and tear bottles. In the museum garden, stone artefacts, sarcophagi, columns, steles, and column capitals are exhibited in a way that integrates with the landscape. In addition to visual graphic designs, the museum also offers exhibitions featuring dioramas (3D models that depict a moment or story with the help of light effects), touch screens, and animations.
